History
The Felician Sisters were established as a religious order in 1855 in Warsaw, Poland. Their ministry consisted of service to the poor, orphaned, sick and elderly. In 1874, the Sisters accepted their first US ministry in Polonia, Wisconsin and expanded their services to Milwaukee in 1907.
In 1956, the Sisters responded to the communities request to build a hospital for the Polish community in Milwaukee. The funds were raised to build St. Francis Hospital. Changes in healthcare in the 1980s highlighted the need for alternative care for the elderly who needed less support than a nursing facility.
Following an investigation of a variety of options available at the time, the Felicians decided to build an assisted living community. Having a tradition of providing services for the elderly as sponsors of St. Mary's Home in Manitowoc since 1898, the Felicians felt the venture aligned well with their mission and strategic intentions. Having obtained a license for a Community Based Residential Facility (CBRF), plans to build, staff and market Villa St. Francis began in 1988.
Continuing their 150-year tradition today, the Felician Sisters continue to demonstrate compassion for, and responsiveness to, those in need. Villa St. Francis was founded in 1990 and is presently home to over 100 residents.

Our Mission Villa St. Francis is dedicated to providing quality, resident-focused living where dignity and self worth are valued, lives are enriched and relationships are celebrated.
The aviary, located in the lobby, is a great spot to greet visitors, have a chat or just enjoy the Villa birds.
