October sets the stage for Mission and Heritage Week at Villa St. Francis. This year’s theme is “Standing on the Shoulders of the Others Who Came Before Us.” This theme allows us to consider the heritage of the Felician Sisters and what their work has meant for our community in Milwaukee. Villa St. Francis has been providing excellent care to our residents for just over twenty-three years. We are blessed that we have been able to impact the lives of so many residents throughout the years. To truly embrace the accomplishments of today, we recognize those individuals that paved the way for us: St Felix, St Clare, Blessed Angela, and St. Francis. We cannot forget the Five Felician Pioneers that came to North America in 1874 and settled in Polonia, Wisconsin. Their dedication and self sacrifice is evidenced by the many works the Felcians Sisters continue to be involved in. Our Felician Heritage is rich in its spiritual outreach of compassionate service spreading the gospel values of love of God and love of others. It is our responsibility to sustain this ministry for those in need today and in the future.
